FM Tour Diary: Day Off - 2 December 2012

Woke up quite early, wasn't sure what time as my phone was charging and out of groping distance but the re-run of Match of the Day was on TV so I watched that. I got up, had a shower, thought about having a shave but decided to be a lazy git instead and do it tomorrow. We meet at midday, load the bus in preparation for our marathon journey to Stansted.

There's a pub near the hotel so we decide to have a spot of lunch before we set off. It's packed, which should be a good sign, we order. Even better, it's a two for one deal. Result! The food arrives and it's bloody awful. What a let down. So folks take note - The Skylark Pub in Wellington, Somerset  - avoid it at all costs. You have been warned…

We hit the M5 motorway and the sat nav is showing 211 miles to our hotel in Stansted. John our soundman left last night as Richard is taking over tomorrow, also Phil is off too with new kid on the block Woody filling the void. All change on the FM express.

It's a long old trek to be sure but it's okay. We finally arrive in Stansted at 6.15pm and what a result… Merv the Swerve Travel Services has come up with a hotel that has not only a Costa Coffee in the building but the bar has Budweiser on draught. Woo hoo!

Steve, Jim, Adrian and I were suffering from curry withdrawal so we headed into Bishops Stortford for a fix. The food was ok, nothing to write home about, but it did the trick. On returning to the hotel I had a couple of pints of Bud and went to bed.
